It has been a very long time since we have been able to give you any kind of update surrounding our fight for equal parentage for our daughter, who is almost 4 now and getting so big!

We thank you for sticking with us while we (im)patiently waited for May 5th to arrive and watched as it breezed past along along with the pandemic.  You couldn’t make it up!

Good new at last however.  We received and email earlier this evening inviting us to complete the required court forms which will enable us to then receive a date for our case to be heard in front of a judge.  To do this we also need a solicitor to write up two separate affidavits for us.  One affidavit must state that I (Amanda) agree that Lesley is and always has been the intended parent for our daughter.  The other affidavit must state that Lesley also agrees that she is the intended parent and always has been.

We are very excited by this news.  As far as we are aware this will be a process to do go through and not all done in one day.  Given that we meet all of the requirements to have Lesley legally recognised as a parent to our daughter, we are hopeful that our case should be successful.

Following that, we will be able to re-register the birth of our daughter and have both Lesley’s and my own name on her birth certificate.

From there, we can apply for a passport which will enable our daughter to travel, as is her birth right.

We thank all of you for sticking around and supporting us and for caring.

We can’t wait until we can tell you we have been completely successful in our quest.

Elbow bumps for you all, stay safe.

Amanda and Lesley, x
