Well actually we have surpassed 1200 signatures!!

This is a long one but I promise it's worth a read.

This update is dedicated to Dr. Gideon Greif's research which actually spurred me to make this petition. Prior to Dr. Greif's work it was widely believed that the Ustase killed around 300 000 to 500 000 people.

Dr. Greif, a world renowned Holocaust expert, announced last year that the "new" victim toll of Serbs alone is at least 800 000. 800 000 is a monumental difference from 300 000 as it means the victim toll is almost three times larger than originally believed.

Why is there so much confusion around the death toll?

There are two reasons. The first being that the Ustase tried to destroy evidence of the genocide twice. Secondly, Yugoslavian Communist leader Tito who came into power directly after the genocide denied the genocide in an attempt to bring the country together and promote "brotherhood" among the different ethnic groups. These two factors combined have made it extremely difficult for historians to pinpoint the number of victims.

Dr. Greif has spent four years dedicated to studying this genocide.

Here is what he has to say about the matter, "Jasenovac was the empire of death," Greif points out, adding that revisionism represents a second murder of the victims."

"We must direct all our forces against revisionism, so that the victims would not become victims again. Facts are facts and we cannot sweep them under the rug, the truth always comes out. I consider all these attempts to revise history to be childish, they are all condemned to failure," he stressed.

In Jasenovac, Greif continued, there were "57 different ways of killing the victims."

Dr. Greif also highlights that death camps run by the Nazi Germans were "sterile"; performed in gas chamber. The Ustase death camps were designed to be torture or camps to inflict as much suffering as possible. The Ustase had no limit to their depravity.

Speaking for Pink TV, Greif said he had devoted four years to his research and that there was is not a single archive that he has not studied. "The results are shocking for their cruelty, sadism... The chain of camps known as Jasenovac, located on 46 square kilometers, six times larger than Auschwitz, was actually a reflection of pure cruelty. The Ustashas enjoyed their cruelty, they enjoyed torturing people. I would say that they had perfected the death," said Greif.

As for the differences between Jasenovac and Auschwitz, he said that the (German) National Socialists didn't like to have their victims before their eyes, they liked "clean deaths" - whereas the Ustashas enjoyed feeling the suffering of their victims.

According to him, another difference is that the Germans, in addition to the humiliation and the torture meant for their victims - actually used the their physical labor , while in Jasenovac, the suffering was the only purpose - the suffering of the victims, until their very death.

Dr. Greif has published an enormous book on this genocide entitled "Jasenovac: Aushwitz of the Balkans."

Please support Dr. Greif's work.

With your help, this petition is squashing out revisionism. Revisionism is a tragedy in and of itself.

Thank you Dr. Greif for shedding an invaluable light on this topic.

Thank you for signing. We couldn't do it without you.

Hvala vam
