No, The Yulin Dog Meat Festival has not been cancelled.

What's Going On

Just 3 months from now, thousands of cats and dogs are destined to be tortured and butchered for human consumption in Yulin, Quangxi, China during what's officially known as the Lychee and Dog Festival.

This gruesome annual 10-day event began in June of 2009 and is set to recommence June 21, 2019.

Due to global outcry, nonprofit organizations, and advocacy from celebrities including Matt Damon, Kristin Bell, Sia, and Ricky Gervais, the number of dogs consumed during the festival has dropped considerably from 15,000 to approximately 3,000 in the past years. However, more work must be done to rescue these innocent lives.

What We Can Do

Conscious Compassion in a non-profit founded in 2018 with the intention of promoting projects dedicated to enhancing compassion towards animals worldwide. Our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home as many dogs as possible from Yulin and put an end to animal cruelty once and for all.

In conjunction with rescuing dogs from Yulin, Conscious Compassion aims to start at the root of the problem by educating the younger generation.

In order to encourage future generations to nurture relationships with each other, animals, and the environment, we are working on developing educational programs which we are working to have implemented in schools across North America and China. Programs will be offered to school children between K - Grade 12 and will include subjects relating to emotional intelligence, communication, environmental science and animal behaviour. Courses will be facilitated by trained instructors and will be offered in step-by-step modules for each age group.

How You Can Help

This petition page has grown to nearly 2 Million supporters!

By donating as little as $1 for 3 consecutive months, together we can raise $6 Million in 90 days and change the lives of thousands of dogs!

          Funds will go towards:

  1. Rescue: Costs incurred from rescuing and transporting just 1 dog from China can be upwards of $1000
  2. Rehabilitation: Many dogs rescued from the dog meat trade have experienced severe physical and psychological trauma. They often require medical and behavioural attention.
  3. Rehoming: Expenses for supplies such as food, toys, crates, and leashes.
  4. Education: Creating a curriculum that revolves around compassion and training facilitators to share in schools
  5. Rescue Centre: The main obstacle we face with rescuing as many dogs as possible is that we simply do not have enough foster homes to place these dogs. With the creation of a rescue centre, we will be able to save hundreds of dogs and will be able to ensure that they have a safe place to sleep before getting adopted off into a loving family.

Thank you for your continued support! Together we can save thousands of lives and shift towards a more compassionate future.

Warmly,

The Conscious Compassion Team
