Prohibition of animal tests for cosmetics in Brazil
O problema
In over 80% of the world including Brazil, still allows animals unnecessary tests are used in cosmetics and cruel. Animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats are routinely subjected to injections and gases are force fed and executed to test cosmetics worldwide. Cruelty Free International believes that it is ethically unacceptable and unnecessary.
Traditionally, cosmetics has been tested on animals to show that they are effective and safe to use. However, this can be done through the use of already approved tests that do not make use of animals, supporting itself on the many combinations of ingredients that are already established as safe for human use.
Many countries, including the European Union in its entirely, use these modern non-animal methods and the Brazilian Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (BraCVAM) has established itself as a form of non-animal alternatives approved for use in Brazil. These more humane and modern methods are better for us since they are more reliable in predictive about how we react to them terms - and of course, best also for animals they no longer need to undergo many hardships.
We call on all friendly to the cause Brazilians to sign and share our petition that urges the Brazilian Government to put an end to animal testing in cosmetics.
