Apparently the Wildlife Conservation Society reported last year that there has been an increase in the population numbers of tigers (and other species threatened by poaching, such as elephants) in some protected areas of Thailand and India. This is obviously great news for tigers and other threatened animals in these regions, but is good news for the cause of elephants, rhinos and all endangered species as it demonstrates that with concerted effort, we can protect these species. The governments of these countries were instrumental in these efforts, as NGOs can't do it alone. Patrolling was stepped up for poachers, and sentencing for crimes was increased. The numbers are still not even close to what they used to be for these animals, but progress is being made. Thank you, everyone for signing this petition. Hopefully soon we will see the same results for elephants and rhinos. Article: http://www.care2.com/causes/tigers-make-a-comeback-something-to-roar-about.html
