Besides poaching, there are other issues that are affecting elephants and other wildlife across the globe. Habitat loss, for example is one concern as the human population is now at 7 billion and counting. Animal human conflict is another issue, which again does not only affect elephants, but affects wildlife everywhere, including in the U.S. where for example wolf populations are being exterminated with the blessing of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (unfortunately putting the interests of ranching ahead of the very wild treasures they are assigned to protect).
