Update the "Honor Code" at BYU

Isn't it about time for BYU to update the honor code. Why is it that BYU demands so much more of its students than the LDS church does of its temple worthy members? Shouldn't the code be based on each individuals HONOR to live in accordance with LDS standards and not some arbitrary rules that were made up in 1957?
This is not a proposal to get rid of the code rather update it so that it is inline with modern day LDS standards. As a church that has Christ at the center of it, its school "BYU" should be accepting of those that meet its rigorous academic qualifications while understanding that not everyone has the same moral, health and grooming standards and that 18-22 year old kids will make mistakes (big shocker right ;-). Students should not be tattled on, judged or expelled, they should be given the trust that the school will help them and that they can confide in their ecclesiastical leaders to try and work through any issues. Forgiveness should be at the core of the honor code as that is what Christ preaches and provides to all who earnestly seek it, why should BYU be any different?
If the code is updated there will be no need for the "Honor Code Office" to rule over BYU students like dictators, students will finally be able to act REAL and LEARN valuable lessons without looking over their shoulders in fear that someone is judging them.
To clarify, this advocates for an "On My Honor" code based on LDS Standards such as;
- No breaking of the law
- No premarital Sex
- No alcohol or drugs
- No cheating
- An ecclesiastical endorsement from an LDS or other Church Leader
It does not advocate for a dictated code that enforces weird rules like;
- No beards or long hair
- Piercings are Limited to one per ear for women
- Shorts have to be knee-length or longer
- Visitors of the opposite sex can't visit your bedroom or bathroom
- Encouraged tattling
- Curfews etc.

*The honor code was not a revelation given to anyone of the twelve or the presidency and should not be viewed as doctrine.
