URGENT ACTION NEEDED TO PROTECT THE FIVE SEPARATE UNIQUE ECOSYSTEMS OF BLACK JOHNSON
It has come to our attention that the Sierra Leone Ministry for Fishing and Marine Resources (MFMR) has an article in Africa 24, 26th June 2024

This latest move by MFMR has come completely out of the blue. Our latest information from a senior government source was that any plan to build a fish harbour at Black Johnson Beach had been suspended.
We are currently checking the authenticity of this report. It seems unusual that this particular deal had been revisited during the current constitutional crisis.
The main issue still to be addressed is the needless destruction of five separate ecosystems, home to many endangered species, protected under international treaties e.g. Ramsar, CITA and the Cop 26 Agreement;

There is no valid Environmental Impact Assessment (EPA) in place for such a proposal, as required by Sierra Leone Law.
