ALAY-LAKAD LABAN SA KALIWA DAM

300 indigenous Dumagat-Remontado peoples, residents of Quezon and Rizal from different sectors are preparing to march to Malacañang in Manila from Gen. Nakar, Quezon to express their resistance to the Kaliwa Dam Project from February 15 - 23, 2023. 

We join them in appealing to the public, and President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., government agencies, and the MWSS, and register our opposition to the mega Kaliwa Dam project to be built in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. 

We call on the agencies involved to pursue better, sustainable, and long-term solutions to water security, for the well-being of our generation and the next. We call on government to pursue better water solutions that:

�️ Will not risk the lives of indigenous peoples, farmers, fisherfolk, downstream communities that rely on Kaliwa River and the Kaliwa Watershed Forest Reserve for food, livelihood, clean water, and protection from climate impacts

� Will not destroy and submerge forests and biodiversity in the Sierra Madre, the backbone of Luzon

�️ Will not bury the Filipino people in debt, especially from China.
