Preserve Vinewood School's Fence Line and Trees

Preserve Vinewood School's Fence Line and Trees
The Issue
As a family, staff or community member of Vinewood School, it is crucial to retain the positive and welcoming culture that has always been prominent here. The current project that is relocating the school’s parking lot fence line from its original position, approximately 50 feet from Building E, to approximately 17 feet from Building E, is deeply concerning. This part of the school has always provided a sense of security and openness for our children, and moving it would be extremely disruptive.
The current placement of the fence not only ensures a safe environment for the children but also maintains the aesthetic appeal of the school grounds. The trees along this line contribute significantly to the school's welcoming appearance and provide necessary shade and beauty. These trees have grown to become a part of the school's identity, offering a serene and green environment, fostering better learning and mental well-being among our children.
For any trees that have been removed or that require replacing, it is essential to ensure that they are substituted with mature trees. Fast-growing, immature saplings will fail to replicate the immediate canopy and beauty mature trees add to this campus. Mature trees are crucial as they provide instant environmental benefits which young saplings cannot.
Moving the fence line would not only alter the school's physical landscape but threaten to diminish the institution's character. Schools should be a haven, a place of growth and stability, and we aim to preserve those qualities by maintaining the existing environment of Vinewood School. It is vital to involve the local community in this decision-making process, ensuring that our voices are heard and that the charm and safety of our beloved school are not compromised.
Join us in urging the Lodi Unified School District and LUSD Board Members to cease plans to move the fence line and commit to only replacing any removed trees with mature, substantial ones. Sign this petition to support keeping Vinewood School’s identity intact and preserving a nurturing environment for current and future students.
