How to send an email to the Woollahra Council about the tender for Trumper Park tennis centre

A reminder that the request for tender for the lease of the Trumper Park tennis centre closes on 13 March. Following this the Council staff will assess the tenders received and prepare a report to the Councillors ranking the tenderers. The Councillors do play a role in the final appointment of the successful tenderer.

If you would like to make a submission to the Council to award the new lease to someone who will run the tennis centre as an asset for the local community the way it has been operated for the last 10 years you can send an email to the Woollahra Council General Manager at

Dear  Woollahra Council General Manager and  Councillors,

I am writing to express my concerns about the tender process for the new 7-plus-7-year lease of Trumper Park Tennis Centre. As a local resident, I want to thank the Council for ensuring that tennis remains the focus of the Centre, following last year’s community feedback. This decision is crucial in preserving the Centre as a valuable community asset.
However, I urge you to consider the impact any changes to the Centre’s operations could have on local families, particularly the vulnerable groups who rely on it. The current Centre (run by the Day family) supports vital community programs that depend on dedicated staff, and the loss of these services would be devastating.
As a mother of a child at Woollahra Public School, I know how important the tennis programs are for local children. These sessions provide a safe, structured space for children to stay active and learn. Many parents, including myself, rely on the Day family's programs, and losing them would be heartbreaking for our community.
The Centre’s school holiday camps are crucial for working parents, offering a safe, enriching environment for children while parents balance work. The demand for these camps often exceeds availability, and losing them would be a serious loss for many families.
Additionally, the currently run Centre plays an important role in offering tennis programs for seniors and people with disabilities, providing a sense of inclusion and confidence. The Day family’s dedicated staff ensure these programs are accessible and effective, and the thought of losing them is deeply troubling.
The current staff and Day family team's presence at the Centre, provides vital safety and security to the neighbourhood. The Centre operates until 9 p.m., and their presence offers peace of mind to local residents. If this staff presence were removed, I fear it could lead to a loss of safety and create unforeseen issues.
The Day family and their staff are essential to the success of these programs and safety in this neighbourhood. They work tirelessly with a smile, and their dedication is a cornerstone of the Centre’s role in our community. I respectfully ask the Council to ensure that the new lease maintains these important services, with staff on-site to continue supporting the community.
