Preserve these 3 iconic Wrigley Field buildings!

Preserve these 3 iconic Wrigley Field buildings!
The Issue
Maintain historic view from designated landmark, Wrigley Field! Save the streetscape immediately outside Wrigley’s right field wall! Former TORCO and EAMUS CATULI rooftop buildings, 3627-3633 N SHEFFIELD AVE are pending demolition. Zoning committee approved 29 unit, 5 story TOD apartment building that would tower 2 stories higher than the 3 graystones built in 1901, 13 years before Wrigley Field was built. The new building is more visible from Wrigley Field’s view shed and negatively affects the rear N Wilton neighbor’s quality of life.
FACTS:
🗳️These 3 iconic buildings stood prior to historically landmarked Wrigley Field, 2 known as the “TORCO” and “EAMUS CATULI” buildings.
🗳️Lakeview is the 6th largest Chicago neighborhood with 22,969 people per square mile; however, only 60 people were present at the ELVN meeting where this project was presented and approved as advertised by the alderman. Not an adequate sample size.
🗳️The scale, aesthetic features and setback of this project are not in line with the streetscape of the 3600 block of N Sheffield Ave. The development would be visible from the bleachers and other sections of Wrigley Field.
🗳️The scale and setback would adversely affect the 3600 N Wilton neighbors quality of life with reduced sun and increased noise pollution.
🗳️ Alderman Lawson’s 3rd largest donor of $10K is half owner of the project, Edward McCarthy. The donation was made through the Realtors PAC.
🗳️Alderman Lawson requested feedback on his March 22 newsletter. I emailed him March 25 offering to set up a community meeting at District 19 (police station) or Murphy’s Bleachers (my favorite neighborhood spot) along with my POV. No response.
We must act now to save the spirit of Wrigleyville!⚾️ Sign this petition to urge city officials to reconsider this development and preserve our historic views and streetscape for future generations.
