Thank you all for your support! We are continuing to fight for our Wolverines by attending meetings, sending emails, making comments, and sharing links and information to advocate for our kids.
Please take a look at the numbers and recommendations on our petition page. The longterm projections show Woods and Garfield will continue to be under enrolled.
Scenario 1 and Scenario A are growing Garfield at the expense of Woods. The projections show there is room for the established Woods students to stay in all scenarios and still have room to receive students from impacted schools to alleviate overcrowding. The numbers do not necessitate removing 78 Woods students from their established school community (areas 131B and 131C).
Please keep sharing the link to the petition, share our flyers on social media, make comments to the district, and send emails. We will continue to need your support as we fight to Preserve the Woods Community.
Our Recommendations/Solutions:
- Do not change current Woods boundaries. Allow 78 established Woods students to stay at Woods (area 131B/131C) and reevaluate boundaries in 5-10 years
- Do not change current Woods boundaries. Allow 78 established Woods students to stay at Woods (area 131B/131C) AND receive 61 students from Century from area 155A/155B
- Adopt Scenario A but ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE NEW TO WOODS from area 131B/131C AND allow 78 established Woods students from area 131B/131C (TK-5th as of 24-25) to complete 6th grade at Woods on guaranteed priority open enrollment transfers
- Adopt Scenario 1 but ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE NEW TO WOODS from area 131B/131C AND allow 78 established Woods students from area 131B/131C (TK-5th as of 24-25) to complete 6th grade at Woods onguaranteed priority open enrollment transfers AND receive 61 students from Century from area 155A/155B
- Reassess all transfers, including open enrollments instead of moving kids within the existing boundaries
