Our UW Oshkosh teams need this bubble and arena as a way to practice in bad weather and during times the other fields are being used. The student athletes of University of Wisconsin Oshkosh pay part of their tuition to have access to this bubble. It is a large part of recruitment for sports such as baseball, football, softball, soccer, etc. Many students come to this school for the perk of the bubble that many other schools do not have. As members of the Oshkosh community, we view this as not only an essential facility for our athletes but a necessity for maintaining the quality of our education and student life.

Athletic facilities like the bubble support not just athletes, but also families, alumni, and friends who engage in the community through athletic events. According to NCAA, sports facilities contribute significantly to the development of student-athletes and also help foster a sense of community among all students (source: NCAA). Reducing or removing access to these facilities could have a noticeable impact on students' experiences.

With Wisconsin’s inclement weather conditions, the availability of an indoor athletic facility is critical to ensure our athletes can train effectively year-round and perform their best during regional and national competitions. Failing to maintain such a facility could hinder our teams' ability to compete, potentially affecting recruitment and retention of student-athletes.

Unfortunately, certain administrations are trying to get rid of our bubble. An area that the UW Oshkosh athletics use very often and need for seasonal practices in Wisconsin. They should not be able to close or remove the bubble from our campus.

We urge the relevant authorities such as Andrew Leavitt, to consider the importance of this athletic recreation bubble, and act urgently to ensure its preservation for the benefit of our students, athletes, and the broader Oshkosh community.
