Another little win towards transparency regarding the future of the 187 schoolyard

Hi all, 

We’ve reached more than 750 signatures on this petition—thank you so much for your support! 

A little win: 
(1) The PTO posted the minutes of the monthly meetings from September 2025 to May 2026. 
We are asking for more, since the construction plans were only announced as approved at the December 18th 2025 meeting and weren't discussed in any of the other meetings.

(2) The SLT posted the minutes of the monthly meetings from September 2025 to February 2026, so the only discussion of the construction prior to December 2025 was in November 2025, when the principal shared that "We had requested money to build an annex  so that would also help with size reduction  and we are waiting for more information on that; it has been in process for a few years." We want to see the SLT minutes when the decision to request to build "an annex" was made.

We are asking for TRANSPARENCY.

Many people know about the petition, or are planning to sign it, but keep forgetting :)

Don't be shy; ask your friends and neighbors if they know about the construction plans. 
If they say yes, ask whether they've heard about the petition. 
If they answer no, inform them!

A QR code at the bottom of the petition makes it easy to share in person.

 Sending it personally via text or email also makes a big difference.

Join us at our October PTO Meeting, in person, Thursday, 10/22 at 6:15 pm in the PS/IS 187 Auditorium. Pizza will be provided by the PTO to those who RSVP.

Doors open at 6 pm.
Childcare (drop-off) will be provided by the YMHA after-school program in the Cafeteria.
Meeting begins at 6:15 sharp!
