With your help, we can protect the Line Creek Forest from development! Due to overwhelming community turnout at the previous meeting, Park Hill School District administrators agreed to host a more formal presentation where your voices can be heard. We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to attend this presentation and share your concerns about Park Hill's development plan for the Line Creek Forest. In fact, one assistant superintendent told our group he didn't believe the community "really cared" about the future of Kansas City's Line Creek Forest! Let's prove him wrong. We have very few chances left to influence Park Hill's future plans for the forest. And while we supported their current development of Hopewell Elementary, we have strongly urged them to: 1. Consider an alternate location for the LEAD & high schools in the northern part of the forest since it will have a much larger environmental impact and require an expensive, wide road that will bisect the forest (introducing future development). 2. Create a conservation plan for the remaining 128 forest acres not needed for the Park Hill School District master plan. Remember: Currently there is no conservation plan for ANY of the forest. Instead their current plan allocates those remaining acres to future sale or development. Make plans to attend the meeting and share your concerns. And most importantly, bring your unique perspective, thoughts and ideas! Our goal is to work WITH the school district, not against them.
