As we reach the final days of the school year, we want every family to know something deeply important: WE HAVE NOT GIVEN UP on our children, our koalas, or our community. Not for a moment.
This green playground space - the one our kids run across every morning, the one where friendships grow, where imaginations spark, where koalas rest in the branches above and it is more than land. It is part of our children’s childhood. It is part of our identity as a community.
The development has not started yet despite some small works that have begun outside the school grounds, and some of the koala habitat trees have sadly been fenced off. We know how confronting this has been for many families, locals and our kids. And yet, even in the middle of all this, nature is reminding us why we are fighting so hard. The koala in the photo we shared with you last week sitting quietly, watching felt like a symbol of what’s at stake.
We want you to know that behind the scenes, we are working every single day on a number of fronts to advocate for a better site and solution for the Preschool. We are in constant contact with our Local Member, and there is a small but meaningful glimmer of hope as important discussions continue with the Department of Education and School Infrastructure. This is a step forward, and it happened because our community has refused to be silent.
But we still need you with us.
We are still waiting for full transparency on the site documentation. We are still waiting for the Department‑commissioned Ecologist Report - a vital piece of information which has been repeatedly delayed, even after we paid to have the request expedited. These delays have been incredibly frustrating, but they have not stopped us.
