Puente Hills Mall has been a significant part of our community for decades, serving as a cultural and social hub for families across the City of Industry and its neighboring areas like Walnut, Chino, Pomona, and Riverside. However, in recent developments, the beloved mall is facing an uncertain future, with plans underway to transform it into yet another warehouse, adding to the abundance already stretching from Jurupa Valley to San Bernardino.

As someone who has grown up frequenting Puente Hills Mall, this news is deeply personal. It's not just a shopping destination; it's a place where memories are made, relationships are forged, and local businesses thrive. Turning it into a warehouse would strip away its accessibility, and take away a vital communal asset from our neighborhoods.

With the rapid increase in warehouse developments throughout our region, there's a crucial need to preserve spaces that are accessible to the public and beneficial to our community's quality of life. The Puente Hills Mall is strategically located, making it ideal for continued public use, whether that be as a recreational center, a community gathering space, or a mixed-use development that retains retail, dining, and entertainment options accessible to all.

Transforming the Puente Hills Mall into such a space would not only preserve its historical and cultural significance but also enhance the economic vitality of the area by potentially drawing more visitors and supporting small businesses. Our community deserves better than another inaccessible warehouse. We need spaces that bring us together, not divide us.

We urge city planners, local government officials, and stakeholders to reconsider the proposed plans and actively involve community voices in deciding the future of this iconic location. By ensuring that the Puente Hills Mall remains a site accessible to all, we can support the social fabric of our communities and uplift our local economy.
