JTA: MANY ANSWERS WON’T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 60% DESIGN

Many residents have asked what we learned from JTA following the recent decision to scale back the Mandarin Road sidewalk project.

JTA has acknowledged that many important questions regarding costs, environmental impacts, drainage, tree impacts, material selections, and final project details cannot yet be answered and will not be available until the 60% design phase is complete.

JTA has also confirmed that additional public meetings will be held once the 60% design is completed so residents can review the findings, ask questions, and provide input before construction decisions are made.

What does this mean?

• The project is not finalized.
• Significant details are still being evaluated.
• Residents will have another opportunity to review and comment on the project.
• Continued public involvement remains essential.

The decision to scale back the project demonstrates that public engagement matters. Thousands of residents have signed the petition, attended meetings, contacted officials, and spoken out about protecting Mandarin Road’s historic canopy, scenic character, and environmental resources.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stay informed and involved. Keep speaking with neighbors !

The conversation is not over, and neither is our commitment to preserving the unique character of Mandarin Road.
