The Future of Mandarin Is Being Decided—Will You Be There?

Renee SlaterJacksonville, FL, United States

Jul 20, 2026
Mandarin residents, your voice matters—but only if you’re in the room.
The process begins Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Morning Session: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM at Mandarin High School
Evening Session: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at the Mandarin Senior Center
These kickoff meetings are your opportunity to learn exactly what the Mandarin Area Preservation Project is, what its goals are, and how it could shape Mandarin’s future.
If you are interested in serving on the Steering Committee, attending one of the July 22 kickoff meetings is essential. The committee selection process will be explained, and additional information will be provided.
Then, on August 13 and August 27, residents interested in serving on the Steering Committee will have the opportunity to participate in that process.
This project may influence recommendations about how Mandarin grows, develops, and preserves its unique character for years to come. Whether the process ultimately reflects the views of the broader community will depend, in part, on who chooses to participate.
If you care about Mandarin, don’t assume others will represent your perspective. Show up. Ask questions. Learn how Steering Committee members are selected. Decide for yourself whether the process is fair, open, and representative of our community.
The people who attend and participate are the ones most likely to have a voice. If you stay home, don’t be surprised if others end up shaping Mandarin’s future for you.
