DETAILS
On Friday, August 22, 2025, at 12:44pm, our legal team filed a lawsuit along with a request for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). Our attorney sought to present the TRO to the presiding judge the same day; however, the court clerk informed us that the judge was engaged in a lengthy hearing at the time. As of Friday at 4:30 p.m., the TRO had not yet been signed and is still slated for review.
- If the judge signs the TRO on Monday, all work at the Balcones will immediately cease, and a Temporary Injunction hearing (TI) will be scheduled within 14 days of the TRO being granted.
- If the judge does not sign the TRO, the Temporary Injunction hearing may still proceed within approximately 3 days.
- Should the Temporary Injunction be granted, the case will advance to trial, which may take several months or longer to resolve.
If you would like to have a copy of the lawsuit, please email us at preservelakeridge@gmail.com
RESIDENT TESTIMONY NEEDED
Do you remember last summer when so many concerned residents of Lake Ridge made their concerns known to the Cedar Hill City Council? Here’s a chance to say those things directly to a judge who will actually listen and has the POWER to STOP this work. Remember, there is POWER in NUMBERS.
At this stage, it is critical that we compile a list of Lake Ridge and Cedar Hill residents willing to provide testimony at the Temporary Injunction hearing, which is anticipated to occur within the next 3–14 days depending on the judge’s decision on the TRO. Even if you are a Lake Ridge resident living in Grand Prairie, you can still provide testimony as this development has the potential to harm the entirety of our community.
If you are interested in speaking and having your concerns heard directly by the court AND entered into record, please send a message to preservelakeridge@gmail.com with the following information:
• Name
• Address
• Email
• Phone Number
Our objective is to present the attorneys with a strong list of community voices, similar to the level of participation seen at the July 2024 City Council meeting. It is important to remember that our goal is to be persuasive. That translates into being able to respectfully articulate facts and concerns. This is NOT a time to simply air grievances.
A judge will be more persuaded by how the city has behaved irresponsibly and the damage that this can do to our beloved Lake Ridge. It is BEST to come with a prepared statement ready to read in court.
We will send further updates as soon as we receive feedback from the court early next week. Please reach out if you have any questions, and most importantly, respond with your contact information if you are willing to provide testimony at the upcoming hearing.
Sincerely,
Preserve Lake Ridge
