Preserve Franklin Farm - No Apartments in Our Planned Community!

The Issue

Opposition - Site-Specific Plan Amendment Nomination, CPN-2025-III-SU-017

Franklin Farm - Proposed Multi-Unit building by Community of Faith UMC and AP3 partner - 3 story building - 93 units. Main access way shared with KinderCare.

The two, four-story structures are being proposed in the middle of a planned community zoned for single family homes. If such a development happens in Franklin Farm then it can happen in most any Fairfax County community.

The Decision Makers

Kathy Smith
Fairfax County Board - Sully District
Responded
Thank you for reaching out to our office. The 2025 Site Specific Plan Amendment (SSPA) process involves several key steps, and throughout each phase, community feedback is vital. The nomination period for the 2025 SSPA concluded on February 13, 2025. On March 4, 2025, the Board of Supervisors will begin accepting nominations to move into the screening phase. At this stage, the nominations will not be approved but will be reviewed for alignment with County policies and priorities. The screening process will determine which nominations should be advanced for further analysis in the Comprehensive Plan Amendment Work Program. During the screening phase, we will host community meetings where staff and nominators will present their proposals, followed by discussions with the community. These meetings are expected to take place between March and April 2025. We encourage all community members to participate in these meetings and public workshops to stay informed about the nominations. As part of this process, my role is to listen, understand the challenges and work toward potential solutions. Sincerely, Kathy L. Smith Sully District Supervisor
