The Issue

This petition is to urge the City of Auburn Planning Commission and the Auburn City Council, to support the proposed General Plan 2045 of keeping the Blocker Drive site zoned for Medium Density Residential and reject alternatives to rezone the parcel to Industrial.

For many of us living in Auburn, California - our neighborhoods and its unique character are more than just a home, they are a testament to years of community growth. Situated in a historic part of Auburn, the Blocker Drive transit depot and surrounding neighborhoods have become a haven for families who cherish the small-town ethos. The idea of transforming this raw parcel into a site for industrial use challenges the long-term goals the City of Auburn consciously strives for.

The focus of our concern is the proposed industrial development on Blocker Drive. This location, surrounded by homes and schools, is integral to the fabric of our tight-knit community. Introducing industrial facilities to this area threatens the safety, tranquility, and historic nature of our neighborhood—a neighborhood many of us chose exactly for these reasons.

Auburn's historic character needs respect. We are asking the Auburn Planning Commissioners and City Council members for thoughtful consideration and a smart approach to development—one that values our neighborhood's family-friendly atmosphere. Industrial developments can bring economic growth, but they belong in places designed to handle their impacts, not near our homes, libraries, and schools. Right use, right place.

We believe in sustainable growth. Let's work together to identify alternative sites that benefit from industrial development without compromising Auburn's heritage or community welfare. The thriving character of our neighborhoods came from strategic and mindful planning—let's continue it that way. Join us in preserving the unique charm and integrity of Auburn's historic neighborhoods. Together, we can protect what we treasure and work towards a solution that respects both development needs and community values.

By signing this petition, you are in support of Auburn's General Plan 2045 land use for the undeveloped Blocker Drive site to remain Medium Density Residential.
