This morning a CBC crew came to Boutilier's Point to prepare a story about the proposed clear cuts in the Ingram River area. The story ran on the 6:00 local news. It showed the area very well and explained my concerns about the short-sightedness of the proposed clear cuts. The story brought out quite clearly that only the value of forestry products was used to plan these cuts. The point of view of the mill that wants the trees was brought forward as well. Minister Churchill was interviewed, saying that he was inclined to follow the advice of his technicians but that he would look at the information presented by community groups. Our municipal councillor Matt Whitman was also interviewed. I believe that the story explains things well and shows that we must act fast to convince Minister Churchill that he should find other lands that can provide trees to the mill in question.
