A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION INTO THE RECENT WDRC ELECTION POSTAL VOTE SYSTEM.

A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION INTO THE RECENT WDRC ELECTION POSTAL VOTE SYSTEM.
The issue
This petition was started on behalf of the hundreds of residents of the Western Downs who contacted me with the below concerns. It may not change anything but our concerns need to be raised.
I would like to see two things come out of the process.
1. The people who didn't get the opportunity to vote, be given the opportunity to vote now.
2. A publicly available report identifying:
- Where the 'lost' postal votes are.
- Why there were never received by people who received the first voting letter.
- Who was responsible for the votes not being received.
WHY?
The 2016 Western Downs Council Election was flawed in many areas.
- Many ballots were not received.
- Many people were not aware that the election was a full postal vote.
- Many people were not aware of the postal voting process.
- A substantial percentage of votes received were informal.
- The process of counting was not conducted in a secure room. The general public had access to the Returning Officer's office where counting was being conducted and votes placed on the 19th of March were not placed into a sealed ballot box. They were placed directly on the counting table.
- Many people were generally not happy with the election process.
