PRDnationwide REAL ESTATE IN AUSTRALIA SPONSORS, SUPPORTS AND PROMOTES RODEO CRUELTY
The issue
Rodeos represent animal abuse and exploitation all in the name of ‘entertainment’. Sadly it appears PRDnationwide Real Estate in Australia doesn't agree. This Australian company was recently the major sponsor of the Kingston Rodeo in Victoria, Australia. With approx. 115 offices in Australia one would think this Real Estate company wouldn't want to be linked with animal exploitation, but this isn't the case. Despite over 2000 people asking that PRD ditch its sponsorship, it totally chose to go ahead with its sponsorship.
There is no doubt this petition will tarnish PRD's reputation. We know that when linked with animal abuse the public never forgets.
Animals used in rodeos often sustain horrific injuries some even lose their lives to this blood sport. The victims of rodeos have no choice and no voice as a recent rodeo in Adelaide (Australia) sadly proved. A bull snapped his hind leg while franticly bucking; he was put down as a result of his horrific injury.

Horrific moment a bucking bull breaks its leg at a rodeo as it throws a rider to the ground - leaving organisers battling to restrain the injured animal as it writhes in agony
A harrowing video has surfaced of the moment a bull snapped its hind leg after attempting to throw off a rider at a rodeo event.
The graphic clip, filmed by a shocked audience member, shows the bull suffer a horrendous leg injury after the animal and rider both fell to the ground in the middle of the Adelaide arena.
While the rider appeared to have recovered from his fall unscathed, the bull was seen writhing in agony and still bucking wildly as organisers attempted to restrain it.
'Last night our worst fears were confirmed when a bull suffered a horrendous leg injury during the Professional Bull riders Australia event hosted by Adelaide Entertainment Centre – an event we had fought to have cancelled because of the potential for animal suffering,' a spokesperson for RSPCA South Australia said.
'We are shocked and appalled by this incident and our inspectors will launch an investigation.
'This bull’s injury was unnecessary and could have been avoided. RSPCA South Australia will gather a team of senior legal counsel to investigate what can be done to change laws to make bull riding and rodeos illegal across the state.'
WHAT ARE THE WELFARE ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH RODEOS

A rodeo is a form of entertainment or sport where untrained horses and cattle are used to demonstrate riding and handling skills. Events include bronco riding, bull riding, calf roping and steer wrestling. The RSPCA is opposed to rodeos and rodeo schools because of the potential for significant injury, suffering or distress to the animals involved. Rodeos are held in all States in Australia except for the Australian Capital Territory where they are prohibited.
Based on observed behaviour, there is very little evidence that the animals 'enjoy' the rodeo experience. Rodeo horses and bulls buck repeatedly as an instinctive reaction to being kicked with spurs and to the tightened flank strap around their sensitive underbelly. Horses and cattle are prey animals and their reaction to being ridden in this way is the same as their reaction to being attacked by a predator, a situation where they experience increased fear, stress and panic. It is not uncommon to see horses and bulls hurl themselves at solid objects in order to rid themselves of the rider. Only when the rider has been thrown or dismounts and the flank straps loosened do they quieten down. Also, some ridden animals are so distressed that they then charge the rider on the ground, further demonstrating this very strong fear response.
PRDnationwide REAL ESTATE

PRDnationwide is a residential real estate franchise owned by Colliers International. PRDnationwide has grown to include more than 115 real estate franchise offices throughout Australia. The past decade has seen the PRDnationwide group average gross sales revenue in excess of $6 billion.

PRDnationwide maybe the major sponsor but it's not the only sponsor of this event, however it is a company people expect better from. The other sponsors, including livestock agents and transporters, are not particularly surprising.
OTHER SUPPORTERS OF THIS EVENT
TB WHITE & SONS PTY LTD is a private livestock selling agent based in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia and HAS sponsored rodeos in the past. For a livestock agent to find such events acceptable is disturbing given they make their living off the backs of animals.
