Today morning ( 28th March ) at 11am Mr.Gopal Shetty had requested DCP -West , Pratap Digheokar to visit Kandivali station to sort out the perennial traffic issues at Kandivali station (east) and on Akurli Road . I attended the meeting along with Rajesh Kulkarni & Vikas Kanchan from the township . The update is as follows :
A. For resolving the traffic and auto issue at Kandivali station ( may be relevant for folks who travel to Kandivali station)
1. The meeting was attended by the ACP & the Sr Inspector traffic and representative of the Auto union .
2, Removal of the three Auto union boards near station on the road which obstruct movement of private vehicles .
3. Separate auto queues for different destinations ( Wadarpada , Damu Nagar, Lokhandwala , Thakur village etc)
4. Allowing rick drop till the station crossing and NOT midway
5. Removal of hawkers near the station
6 . A Police squad will be stationed to ensure that the above items are acted upon .
B. Akurli Road issue
1. The biggest issue we face is at Hanuman temple, where the autos take a U turn and the tempos which are illegally parked opposite Hanuman temple
2. The DCP and Mr Atul Bhatkalkar accompanied me to Hanuman temple to assess the problem . They have promised that dividers will be put so that autos dont take a U turn and block the traffic, also notice will be given to the tempo's parked . The situation will be reviewed in a weeks time .
This is the first time that 3 of the petition respondents came together to assess the issue . The issue is far from being resolved , we need to pursue till we see it through .
