Every day, families, dog walkers, runners, and cyclists find solace in the greenery, immersing themselves in the lush landscapes. But now, this beloved sanctuary is under imminent threat from the Hydro One, Waterloo Wellington Powerline Project route proposal #3, which plans to slice through this conservation area, uprooting massive amounts of trees and vegetation.

The proposed route will not only disturb the delicate balance of the ecosystem, but it will also permanently fragment our cherished forest. Consider the impact on the intricate web of life: insects, which are crucial for pollination and as a food source, will be disrupted; aquatic life in the permanent ponds and marshes, such as fish and salamanders, will face habitat destruction; and valuable species like turtles, birds, deer, and foxes will find their homes irreparably altered.

Studies have shown that forest fragmentation causes a decline in biodiversity and upsets the natural habitat that so many species depend on. This proposal disregards the ecological importance of the Puslinch tract, a vital green space that local communities and visitors treasure for its recreational and rejuvenating qualities.
