Thanks for the amazing support! The City has unsurprisingly elected not to postpone the 8/24 meeting, notwithstanding the very strong outcry from the neighborhood to do so. A number of people will not be able to attend on 8/24 because of prior commitments or vacations. This includes our POA president and the Chairman of our Beautification Committee. We hope that those of you who CAN attend the meeting on 8/24 will do so, and will ask a lot of questions about what the City intends to do on the edge of our neighborhood. A lot of questions that were circulated on the Google Group forum have still not been answered. They still seem to be intending to put a trailhead in our neighborhood (but call it something else so they don't have to admit it's a trailhead), which will exacerbate existing traffic problems, instead of using the parking lot that already exists just across the Guenther Street bridge. They have not yet answered questions about lighting after dark; about policing; about the impact of a 10' concrete paved path on wildlife and nature in the creekbed; about maintenance and litter clean up; how we keep from being used as a free parking lot for overserved Wurstfest visitors and toobers. Please go to the meeting and ASK, and pin them down. A city that ignores a petition of so many directly affected neighbors obviously has already made up its mind what it wants to do, and now the 8/24 meeting is just a box-checking exercise for them. So go to the meeting and let them know how you feel. I sure wish I could. bob
