Keep Gamesley Post Office on Winster Mews

The Issue

We, the residents of Gamesley, Glossop want the post office on Winster Mews to remain open in its current location and not to be moved.

Gamesley Post Office has always been a focal point for the community on Winster Mews and moving it to any other location would create huge problems for our elderly and disabled residents who would struggle to make the longer journey. If it was moved into any other existing business premises then the services currently available would be cut to a bare minimum and be provided by inadequately trained staff unsympathetic to the needs of our community.

Closing our Post Office would also mean the loss of a job for our current postmaster John Ragdale who has served us competently and faithfully for the last two decades. Everyone would agree Mr Ragdale is helpful, compassionate, extremely knowledgeable in his job and regarded highly by the residents Gamesley.

This is an attempt by The Post Office to save money by cutting services and to pay a tiny commission to anyone willing to cut the heart out of this community. It is not reasonable or logical to assume that any business willing to undermine our community to sell us a stamp would gain any extra sales or loyalty.

It is the policy of The Post Office to give a consultation to the residents and as such this petition is to voice our objection to any planned closure and the redundancy of Mr Ragdale. This petition will be sent to board members of the post office including the chairman Tim Parker, The Communications Union, Local Mp Ruth George, Councillor Anthony McKeown and many others.

This is your Post Office in your community and this is your chance to make your voice heard by signing and supporting this petition. PLEASE SHARE on social media and inform as many groups as possible.
