Here's an interesting update on the reservoir at Havant Thicket!
Six months after Havant and East Hants Borough Councils approved the reservoir, Southern Water and Portsmouth Water divulged that they plan to change the use of the reservoir.
Instead of the spring water supply detailed in the planning application the water companies now plan to recycle effluent and store it in the reservoir.
It will then be treated and returned to our drinking water supply across the south coast to all Southern Water and Portsmouth Water drinking supply customers.
This plan has been rushed through; Southern Water have been unable to answer certain questions relating to impact on the environment because they simply don’t know the answer. We are calling on DEFRA to reject their plans and delay the water recycling programme until thorough options appraisals have been complete.
