DECISION WAS MADE ON FEEDBACK OF 300 AGAINST - 95 FOR!!

There have now been more than 350 comments on the potential demolition of the Old City Records Office, most of which are against this going ahead.

However, we are only at 125 signatures on the petition and need to be cruising towards 1000 in order to stop and challenge the decision.

I have also finally found some links to the PCC advertisements asking for local people to get involved in feedback for the Records Office future.

For some reason, no one in the council has been willing to just send me these links to read through nor provide me with any contact details of someone to speak with.

From what I can see on the results, the council only approached 254 homes and 5 businesses in the area, but say they reached out somehow to 1500. The negative feedback from local engagement seems to be in greater numbers and in far more detail than the positive, showing that the local area is more against the demolition than for it. Gunwharf Quays and Gunwharf Armoury residential estates as well as Old Portsmouth areas are within 0.5miles of the site and have quite a few residence but were not approached or involved in this decision, nor were the other 238,000 Portsmouth residence, minus the 1500!

Moving forward there has to be a better way of communicating decisions like this that involve the heritage of Portsmouth to the constituents as it is unfair for decisions like this to be made without the full support of the constituents.

You can see in these links the detail that the PCC has put together from their 260 attempts that conveniently sits at 52-54% in favour of the demolition, but I think this figure would certainly sway towards for a strong NO if it was done independently.
