The county is moving forward, and so is IDEM. I do not know if the County’s letters/notice are publicly available, so I don’t want to widely circulate those at this time. But meeting is on May 10, 2022 at 1:30 pm at the County building.
However, the IDEM report very much is a public record. IDEM also took more pictures, so you can now see how bad it is up close, just what you can see from the driveway. I attached the link to the letter, directly.
Of course, this doesn’t even show the magnitude of the problem, which also includes multiple, unsafe, decayed buildings and heaps and heaps of trash behind and around the back yard, as well. Also, you cannot see the smell from the pictures. You know that gorgeous smell of wet, spring air you get this time of year? Well, ours smells different, because the rain just seems to help the smell of the trash emanate. Guys, this place is vile.
That said, County and State action is good, but no guarantee that there will be any change. The county had lost interest several times before, so one of my goals with starting this petition is to keep the county accountable.
