Nossos pedidos
6. YUI cantando a abertura.

Preamble
For a New Era in the One Piece Anime
After more than 25 years, over 1,150 episodes, and a world built chapter by chapter by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is about to enter its Final Saga — the ending generations of fans have been waiting for since childhood. The Elbaf arc is the last great breath before that historic moment. There is no second chance to close out a story this size properly: the creative team steering these final chapters will define, forever, how One Piece is remembered.
That is why we, One Piece fans from every corner of the world, formally ask Toei Animation that, once the Elbaf arc adaptation is complete, the following arc mark the start of a new era for the anime — with a hand-picked team built on proven results, and kept in place from beginning to end of the series' final stretch.
Our requests
1. Megumi Ishitani as the anime's chief director.
Ishitani graduated from the highly selective GEIDAI program at Tokyo University of the Arts — which admits little more than a dozen students a year — and, despite having personally directed only episodes 957, 982, 1015, and 1072, is already called "the best director One Piece has ever had" by a large part of the fandom. Episode 1015, adapting the symbolic 1,000th chapter, isn't just remembered as one of the best One Piece episodes: it's frequently cited as one of the best-directed episodes in the history of anime, period. Fans have publicly asked Toei for years to give her more room — and the studio itself has already seen what she can do outside One Piece too, having trusted her to direct the finale of Dragon Ball Super, another high-stakes send-off she pulled off masterfully. It makes no sense for the studio's own most acclaimed talent to keep receiving only occasional guest appearances right as the series is about to live out its most important chapters. It's time to hand her the reins.
2. Shota Goshozono as action director.
Under Goshozono, Jujutsu Kaisen took home 11 Crunchyroll Anime Awards in a single ceremony — a historic record no other series has matched — including Best Director for himself. More than the awards, his work redefined what audiences now expect from a fight scene in shonen anime, elevating already-strong source material to a standard that became a reference point for the entire genre. One Piece has, on the page, some of the most creative and ambitious battles in all of shonen — and yet the anime adaptation doesn't always live up to that potential. Putting these fights in the hands of someone with this level of proven technical mastery isn't a luxury: it's the only way to guarantee that the confrontations fans have waited decades for finally land with the impact they deserve on screen.
3. Hiroshi Seko (and his writing team) for the scripts.
Seko isn't just the writer/series composer credited on Attack on Titan's most acclaimed seasons — the very ones containing the highest-rated episodes among fans and critics, like "Hero" and "Perfect Game." He is, today, the connective thread behind nearly every one of the decade's most celebrated shonen adaptations: Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho 100, Chainsaw Man, and Dandadan. No other working screenwriter has this level of proven trust with long, complex, emotionally heavy stories. And on top of that, he's currently the screenwriter for Jujutsu Kaisen — meaning pairing him with Goshozono for One Piece wouldn't be a blind bet, it would mean continuing a partnership that already operates at the highest level, removing the trial-and-error risk that usually comes with any brand-new team.
4. Keeping this team in place until the end of the series.
Toei itself has already confirmed that the release schedule has been reorganized to sustain the series "for the rest of the Final Saga." That is exactly why this team cannot be swapped out partway through. A story with the emotional weight of One Piece does not survive tonal shifts well in the middle of its final stretch — and the worst thing that could happen to the conclusion of 25+ years of storytelling is a noticeable creative inconsistency right when it matters most. We ask that, once formed, this team be kept intact through the series' final credits, exactly as happened with the stable teams that elevated Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan to the status of modern classics.
5. Far more elaborate fight choreography.
We specifically ask Goshozono to bring to the manga's fights the same framing care, the same command of impact timing, and the same razor-sharp choreography he has already demonstrated in his work — significantly and visibly raising the bar for how combat has been adapted so far. Fans already know, panel by panel, the visual potential Oda drew on the page; what we're asking is for the anime to finally honor that potential in full.
6. YUI performing the opening theme.
YUI has sold more than 5 million physical copies in Japan alone and is responsible for two of the most iconic openings in anime history: "Rolling Star" (Bleach) and "again" (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) — songs that, nearly two decades later, still define an entire generation's memory of those series. Bringing her voice to mark this new chapter of One Piece wouldn't just be nostalgia: it would be a perfect symbol, a legend from the golden age of anime theme songs opening the door to the final chapter of a legendary manga.
7. Shiro Sagisu for the score.
Sagisu is the composer behind Neon Genesis Evangelion — a soundtrack so influential its various editions have sold roughly 9 million copies and are still studied as a reference for how music can carry dramatic weight in anime. He has also scored Bleach, Berserk, and, not coincidentally, the Attack on Titan films themselves — meaning this "dream team" would already have a direct connection to Hiroshi Seko's work before it even started. His ability to craft grand, emotionally devastating orchestral themes is exactly what One Piece's Final Saga needs for its most decisive moments.
8. The sound effects team behind the Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel trilogy.
The Heaven's Feel trilogy is widely regarded as one of the most cinematic and immersive sound design achievements ever produced in anime, and we know exactly who was behind it:
Yuji Akazawa — Sound Effects. Akazawa handled sound effects on all three Heaven's Feel films, but his résumé goes far beyond that: he is also the name behind the sound effects for Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (the film that briefly became the highest-grossing movie in Japanese box office history) and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, along with acclaimed work like Pompo: The Cinephile. In other words, this is the sound behind some of the biggest box-office and critical phenomena in recent anime. We ask that he be brought on to design the sonic impact of One Piece's final battles — the same visceral weight he gave to Tanjiro's strikes and the blades of Heaven's Feel, applied to the attacks of Luffy and crew.
The rest of the technical sound team who worked alongside him on the trilogy. We recognize that Hikaru Kondo served as sound director on the trilogy, and we deliberately exclude him from this request, given that he is the founder and president of Ufotable. But we ask that the rest of the team who, under his supervision, built that level of sonic immersion, also be considered — to give One Piece's final battles the cinematic impact they deserve.
Why this matters for Toei
The bar for Japanese animation has risen dramatically over the last decade, pushed forward by studios like MAPPA and Ufotable — and today's audiences simply won't settle for anything less than blockbuster-level quality at the moments that matter. One Piece isn't just any franchise: alongside Dragon Ball, it is one of the biggest cultural phenomena anime has ever produced, and it's about to close out its most important story in the next few years. An elite creative team at this moment isn't just about pleasing nostalgic fans — it's about guaranteeing that the final chapter generates exactly the kind of global buzz, streaming engagement, and sales that only anime's biggest cultural events can produce, turning the end of One Piece into a historic media milestone rather than just another series finale.

『ONE PIECE』
Heaven's Feel
