We have doubled our number in the past few days as the Vatican Meeting is approaching. We have over 220 supporters right now and our numbers are growing hourly.
Now is the time, if you haven't already to share this petition via Facebook, Twitter, email or by word of mouth. The larger number of people who sign, the louder our voice!
With the meeting starting, many more people will be listening, watching and caring more intently than they have. This petition can give them a voice, one they might otherwise not have.
The Vatican has already started the expectations game, with the "don't expect too much" line. We will be telling them, we expect and deserve more! We, and the Church we care deeply about, deserve substantive changes that goes to the heart of the problems.
There was an article yesterday where a Bishop intimated that the faithful were too impatient for change. That's complete nonsense. Real change involves full openness, transparency, reporting to law enforcement, full admission of errors, payment and counselling to victims, and changes in rules on celibacy.
As former Monk & Priest AW Richrd Sipe, who studied this issue for 30 years said, celibacy is at the heart of the scandal. It touches on everything driving this crisis and drives a code of secrecy among the 50% or so clergy that have broken the vows. These lies permeate the clergy, where all are involved in covering a broken system.
I just want fresh air, where we have a fully truthful clergy on all levels, concerning all matters. That is, what I believe Jesus wants. A Church where all leaders are truthful, where they can once again be believed and trusted.
Please spread the word and share the link to our petition today.
Sincerely,
Christopher Tolton
