Great news that we have over 100 supporters so far and we are steadily gaining more followers.
The Vatican meeting is only 8 days away and it would be a great help to our cause if we could significantly increase our number of supporters.
As I said in my note yesterday there is an important event that may have an impact on the efforts of reform in the Church. It's a bit unpleasant, as much of this is. A new book is set for release on the 21st, the first day of the Vatican meeting on clerical abuse. This book, by Frederic Martel, titled In the Closet of the Vatican is 570 pages and alleges that 80% of the clergy in the Vatican are homosexuals.
The book points out the inconsistencies in the Church's teachings vs the Vatican reality, given the lack of celibate practice amongst many of the clergy. It in essence will put the hierarchy on the defensive even more and may make a recognition of a need for a change to the celibacy laws more likely. We can only hope. As I quoted AW Richard Sipe in our petition, the secrecy about supposedly celibate clergy, has been a major part of the sexual abuse of minor's problem. All of the clergy have sexual secrets and those in the clergy know them from confessions. They can then hold that knowledge over each-other's heads, so to speak. This includes bishops & cardinals.
An open, married priesthood would allow for much of this secrecy to to go away and would encourage those who want to have a married life but also serve the Church, the ability for ordination. I believe our numbers of priests would increase significantly. We can only hope the hierarchy hears our call.
Please continue our efforts together and get the word out via social media and emails.

A simple link with a very short/neutral note is all it takes:
"With all the problems the Catholic Church has had, I found this worldwide petition to the Pope worth looking at: http://chng.it/vb6SKLs7 via Change.org"
The other way is to go to the Petition link and share it on Facebook or Twitter with the same or similar wording.
Thanks again!
