Our submission to the Queensland Parliament’s five-year review of the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has been officially accepted and published on the Parliamentary website.
This means Luke’s story and the systemic failures we’ve exposed in Queensland’s oversight and accountability systems are now formally on the public record.
Our submission calls out how the CCC produced a false “oversight report” only days after Luke was killed, before any real investigation had taken place, and how that report misrepresented the evidence. It exposes the dangers of police investigating themselves and the urgent need for independent oversight when lives are lost at the hands of police.
Importantly, the submission references Luke’s Law, our call for legislation to ensure independent investigation of every police related death in Australia, so no other family is ever left fighting this battle alone.
This is a milestone in our campaign for justice and reform. Luke’s name and story are now part of the official record driving change.
