Without a doubt, this has been the most traumatic experience of our lives. Dealing with what we feel is systemic corruption within Queensland has been almost as painful as waking up and living without our son every single day. The abhorrent treatment we have been subjected to over and over should never be allowed to happen to another family.

The press conference by Ian Leavers in the aftermath where he gave mostly false, misleading and inaccurate information and which was the only information available to us at the time, information that is still being reported on to this day only serves to further traumatise our family.

His words not only desecrated our son's good character and destroyed our family even more than it was already but they also affected the integrity of any investigation that came after.

It has now been proven the police were the aggressors that night and to now try to use our son's personal mental struggles from a breakdown he had 5 years ago after the death of his friends as a means to justify the actions of the QPS is beyond cruel.

The most incredible part of this process is that 2 men can shoot you dead in the street and instead of investigating that violent act they investigate the victim in order to deflect blame from themselves.

The fight is not over, and it will never be over until justice is served ….they took our son's life, they took his future, and we will never allow them to take his voice and destroy his reputation in order to protect their organisation so that they can continue to kill whomever they choose.
