Philadelphia minorities have long been taunted by a statue of ex-Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo - a symbol of corruption, institutional racism and harassment against the City’s minority populations - erected in front of the Municipal Services Building, steps away from our iconic LOVE sign. On May 30, 2020, Mayor Kenny tweeted, “Black Americans are outraged—and they should be. I share that outrage.

While I will never know the heartbreak and trauma the Black community continues to experience, I want Philadelphians to know that I, and other City leaders, stand with them and are here to support them.”

It’s time to stop sharing words of understanding and act on them. Remove the statue of Frank Rizzo immediately!
