The Indian was chosen as the Mascot for Pocatello High School with the approval of the Bannock/Shoshone tribes when the school was founded. They were honored and proud to be recognized as part of the community and have the name Indian placed on the school.. Over the years tribe members  helped the cheerleaders with headdresses, learning dances, some even made them authentic moccasins. One of the head cheerleaders was an Indian. Do we not dishonor the forefathers and all those who that made those decisions with integrity when we are now saying that this is cultural appropriation, they were unenlightened, and obviously bigoted?
