Todays Idaho State Journal says the School Board is going to vote on adding $2.5 million more to the current $5 million dollar budget for Pocatello High School.Save Pocatello High School is not against adding $2.5 million to the Pocatello High School expansion budject if it was needed, but this is a design change to build over an easement that should not be built over. There are other options the School Board has been blinded to see. Hummel Architecture is not an expert on adding new architecture to Historical buildings. A glass addition is not safe from shooters or rampaging cars, do High School students really need to be protected from the rain?  Do we really need to spend $2.5 million more for glass? There are other options.  There is also no mention of the fact that they also want to cut a hole through the main facade and add an unnecessary third door. There is no need for such architectural vandalism. Put the main office in the new structure --that is where it belongs. The School Board admits that they do not have a final plan, how much will these ill advised additions be when they do?
