*Victim Blaming*

Victim blaming occurs when the *victim of any wrongful act is held entirely or partially at fault for the harm that happened to them.*

Even the victim might have convinced himself/herself that somehow he/she did something wrong — or that didn’t do enough to stop it.

*Examples of victim blaming -* Girl who is raped, Doctor who is assaulted

*Victim Blaming when a girl is raped:*

“You should have known not to go out at night”

“You should have worn more clothes”

“You must have given mixed signals to the boy”

“You did not try hard to stop rape”

*Victim Blaming when doctor is assaulted:*

“ You should have known the patient was serious”

“You should have taken more care of the patient”

“You should have been 24 x 7 with the patient”

“If a senior doctor had spoken to the patient party, patient party would not get agressive.”

“ Doctor should have given more time to the patient”

“Doctors everywhere are businessmen nowadays”

“ You did not try hard to save the patient”

“You should have got a superspeciality opinion”

"We used to be available 24 X 7 for the patients. These young doctors don't care for patients."

There is no difference in both. And in India Victim Blaming is very very common. *Society* does it when a *girl is raped or doctor is assaulted.* In medical field, even other doctors blame the assaulted doctor.
