Why Dr Archana comitted suicide when law was on her side ?
Many of us are now that Dr Archana should not have committed suicide. There were alternatives available. Legally the case would have been dismissed because it would never have stood in the court of law. And that is absolutely right.
But you are forgetting one important fact. This happenend in India
Lets assume Dr Archana did not commit suicide after the incidents, let me narrate to you the sequence of events that would have happened:
A 22 year old girl is brought to the hospital with 4th baby after 3 girls. The girl dies of complication and the mentality of the husband ( Laluram Bairwa) to want a boy.
Patient party created ruckus, kept the dead body in front of the hospital and pressurised the doctor using mob.
Local goons Shivshankar Joshi alias Balia Joshi, Rakesh Matlana and Jitender Gothwal in association with greedy Laluram Bairwa, the husband of the 22 year old girl threatened the doctor with extortion of 50 lakhs with commission fixed for each of the goons.
When the doctor did not pay Rs. 50 lakhs, they used their political conneciton, muscle power and bribe the police to book the doctor with section 302 which is non bailable.
They conspire with Mahesh Bihari Sharma ( media person) to publish one sided news and defaming the doctor.
The poor doctor ( Dr Archana Sharma) was arrested and put in jail custody with other hooligans in a filthy police station.
With a non bailable charge , she was illegaly kept in jail for months in jail. Her family would be devastated. Her reputation build over so many years would be ruined forever and she would be labeled a Murderer.
The court will take months to years before it says that there was no negligence and that Dr Archana is innocent. She would released from jail. But now no one cares. Her life, her profession and her dignity , alll would have been lost. And nothing would have happened to the local goons and the media people like Baliya Joshi and Mahesh Bihari Sharma who would be now destroying the life of some other doctor.
Just imagine if this was you.
Dr Archana chose the best thing that she could. Dont blame her for suicide. Our system killed her.
