A very sad and shocking incident took place today at around 2.30 am in RIO, Kolkata. A stranger entered RIO, came up to 4th floor bypassing the securityguard, and walked straight through the hallway.

Entered the first pgt room inside the canteen, and randomly started hitting one of the second year PGT with a hammer in the head who was resting in the first bed adjacent to the door.

Another doctor who was also in the same room after being awaken by the noise triedto get hold of the person. He snatched the hammerfrom him, but the stranger managed to flee. The attacker left behind bag full of dangerous sharp weapons etc. He ran downstairs and and then after scaling the gate number 6, he escaped. Throughout all this, the guard was fast asleep. A police complaint has been lodged and the injured PGT has been taken to the ER where he required stitches in the head and scalp area. CTscan head done and will be repeated again.

FIR lodged but culprit yet to be nabbed.
