We need Central Law for protection of doctors working anywhere in India that defines 1) Severe Punishment for assault on doctors 2) Accountability of Police and administration if it fails to protect doctors 3) Prompt filing of cases of Assault on Doctors and Medical establishment in the country 4) The Offence be Non bailable 5) Case of assault on doctor should be Fast tracked ( if need be by emergency courts that can function 24X7) and time bound ( not more than 15 days) 6) Onus of proving not guilty should be on the Assaulter 7) Minimum imprisonment of 5 years if found guilty for assault on doctor. 8) Responsibility of State to treat and rehaabilitate assaulted doctor (if needed) 9) Assaulted doctor to get paid leave to pursue his case against assaulter. If he is a private practitioner, he should be compensated by the state. 10) These should be implemented on ground Zero
