So we are grateful for the Humane Society International(HIS)’s initiative to rescue these poor puppies and dogs. It would be great if a large organization such as HIS can expand their campaign against the Korean dog meat cruelty putting pressure on the Korean government. Putting the pressure on their government, companies, leaders such as United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon who is a Korean until they can no longer ignore this issue and can have a much bigger impact on the Korean dogs. It will save 2.5 million dogs each year from horrendous cruelty instead of 57 dogs that they just rescued. We hope that other large organizations such as World Animal Protection(WAP, formerly World Society for the Protection of Animals) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA) can lend their hands as well to fight this enormous uphill battle. - WAP: info@worldanimalprotection.us.org - PETA: http://www.peta.org/about-peta/contact-peta/email-form/ Sample Letter to WAP and PETA: In South Korea, Millions of dogs are brutally killed every year for their meat, and prior to their killing, they are held under horrible conditions in dog farms where they are bred solely for the purpose of being killed. Although South Korea does have an Animal Protection Act, it does not prevent the consumption of dog meat nor the killing of dogs.
