We have been blessed with a few months without harassment from council wardens in our parks.
In February 24 there 6 fines issued for dog-related offences, then none until September 24, when there was one.
Now it appears that a few days ago someone walking alone was followed from his home with his dog on a lead. To Tothill Park. Two female wardens appeared from the bushes in the park and told him his dog had been off the lead on a sports pitch. Again, it sounds as if the pitch markings were unclear or washed away. It was raining hard.
He refused to give his name and details but found an email when he got home with a PCC demand for £100.
It remains to be seen how they got his email address.
The owner intends to contest the fine before a judge.
We wish him luck.
Judging from the response on Face Book whitelinesfines, this incident has raised a lot of hackles. Rightly so.
