This petition is deeply personal to us, as we are a country are united against the exploitation of countries worldwide for resources and increased military presence. We believe in a world where our tax dollars are invested in our own country for the needs of it's people rather than funding wars and military expansion overseas.

The United States spends more on its military than the next 10 countries combined, with an estimated budget of $732 billion in 2019 alone (source: Peter G. Peterson Foundation). This immense investment often comes at the expense of domestic programs that could benefit our citizens directly and decrease war and suffering all over the world. 

We propose a pledge for all US citizens to commit to voting for a third party as a protest against this continuous investment in wars and military expansion. Credible and reputable third party candidates who are anti-war are Dr. Cornell West and Robert F Kennedy. Explore your preferred candidates, and support their campaigns by learning, sharing, donating, conversing with fellow community members. With this pledge to vote for third party we hope to pressure the US government to call for a permanent ceasefire in Palestine, and pressure on Israel to end the illegal occupation of Palestinian territory. If enough of our fellow citizen vote third party we will increase representation of America's true values, and not those of the corporate and corrupt politicians who currently sit in office. 

Furthermore, we urge collective divestment from mainstream media outlets that often perpetuate narratives supporting these harmful practices because they are directly funded by the corporations who's interests are tied to the investment of the creation of wars, weapons and militarization across the world. These companies lobby, pass laws that benefit them, evade paying taxes and expand the poverty in our own country, creating a population that is in poverty, uneducated, unhealthy, and struggling. These corporations benefit from our hard earned tax dollars and the continued wars and mass consumerism. We must divest. 

Together, through this pledge, we can send a powerful message about where our priorities lie - not in war or foreign intervention but within our own country, investing in education, healthcare and infrastructure that directly benefit us all.
