Keep Hawai'i SafeHI, États-Unis
16 mars 2020

In a press conference Sunday 3/15/2020, Dr. Bruce Anderson Hawaii's State Health Director said the following:

"...in regards to screening at the airports...in other areas of the country...they found that trying to isolate themselves and close their borders is really largely ineffective in the long run, what it does it prevents the disease, postpones the introduction of the disease...but what we're hearing from all sides is the real answer (uh..cough) to addressing the spread of the disease is social distancing. Its going to get here sooner than later, we can screen people and postpone it coming here but its going to end up here in Hawaii undoubtedly and we're going to have to deal with that."

Did that make any sense to you? In keeping the Hawaii people safe, shouldn't that be our goal to: "prevent the disease and postpone the introduction of the disease"? But instead Dr. Anderson's answer was, "...social distancing and that its going to end up here in Hawaii undoubtedly and we're going to have to deal with that."

To allow tourist to visit our islands, yet instruct people to "social distance" themselves from others does not make a whole lot of sense. It's like saying: we will place you in a box and keep adding more people in that box, yet you need to social distance yourself from them.

Hawaii people is not stupid, when it comes to protecting their ohana and kupuna they WILL do anything to secure their safety. Let's continue to share this petition, from Facebook, Twitter to Instagram, Email and word-of-mouth, let's place a temporary stop to tourism and ensure the safety of our loved ones!
