UPDATE-11th July 2016

UPDATE Please see below update posted by CLIC Sargent regarding Malcolm Sargent House. The consultation period is nearly over and a decision is to be announced week beginning 25th July. This period of summer holidays is always very busy for Malcolm Sargent House providing much needed holiday respite breaks for children who are suffering from cancer and their families. Since CLIC Sargent announced the consultation for closure, Malcolm Sargent House has been closed and empty. No families have been booked in for any future holidays. The grounds have been neglected and the garden is now overgrown with weeds. Billy Herd and Eileen Granger MBE, two volunteers who have worked tirelessly for the Malcolm Sargent House for many years and raised over £400,000 for the Charity have both resigned from any volunteering for CLIC Sargent. Billy Herd and many other volunteers who were leaving legacies in their Wills to the charity have changed their Wills and cancelled their monthly direct debits to the charity. In the update posted by CLIC Sargent it states that the house does not raise enough money to cover its own cost. It is very important for people to be aware that in recent years, CLIC Sargent has diverted funds from local fundraising events to different branches of CLIC Sargent which does not allow a true, accurate reflection on how much money is actually raised locally for the house. The Volunteers and Committee of Save Malcolm Sargent House believe that with all the local support of the community and fundraising which is done for Malcolm Sargent House the costs of running the house are easily covered. If members of the community wish to voice their concerns directly to CLIC Sargent please comment on their Facebook page or email CEO of CLIC Sargent directly on kate.lee@clicsargent.org.uk. We ask that our friends in the community who support our endeavours to Save Malcolm Sargent House please remember that this is a peaceful protest against its closure and please just share your genuine concerns and grievances only.
